해군육전대 전적비

​해근육전대 전적비 국가보훈처 지정 현충시설 33-2-26

포항시 북구 송라면 방석리

해군육전대 전적비는 6·25전쟁 헌양사업 가운데 하나로 1950년 당시 육상전투에 참가해 혁혁한 공을 세운 해군육전대원들과 전사자를 추모하기 위해 지난 2012년 1월 건립을 추진해 2013년 9월 완공했다.

건립취지

6.25전쟁 초기 국토의 대부분을 적에게 빼앗긴 상태에서 1950년 7월 9일부터 8월 20일까지 최종의 방어선인 구암산 전투, 포항탈환작전 등 포항지구전투에 참전해 눈부신 전공을 거둠으로써 유엔군의 낙동강 방어선 형성과 지속적인 양륙작전에 기여하고 전세를 역전시키는 계기를 마련한 해군 육전대 480명 용사들의 공적을 기 리고자 함.

Purpose of Establishment

This monument was established to pay tribute to the distinguished services of the 480 naval heroes of ROK Navy Ground Battle Battalion. From July 9th to August 20th of 1950, these heroes yielded great accomplishments by participating in combat in the Pohang parameters such as the Kuam Mountain Battle and the Pohang Recapture Operation. Through this they contributed to the continuous debarkation operations as well as the formation of a defense line along the Nakdong River, setting the foundation for turning the tide of the Korean War.
